CTIA Under Way: MoLo News to Come

By: Mike Boland 27 March 2007

The CTIA Wireless confab is under way, and we’re expecting a host of product launches and announcements that have implications for mobile local search. A prelude to some of these were given last week at TKG’s Drilling Down On Local ‘07, in Ralph Kunz’s keynote (see previous post), as well as a mobile panel and discussions throughout the show on mobile search.

So far at CTIA, InfoSpace has announced the availability of its Find It! mobile search platform for BlackBerry users, and MapQuest has launched “send to cell” functionality in its online maps. The “3-screen” strategy in integrating content across PC, phone and television was a big theme at Drilling Down, and we expect to see more of it in the coming months, starting with CTIA announcements and product launches.

We’ll dig deeper into these and other notable announcements from CTIA here. Also check out CNET News.com’s comprehensive coverage of the show, including an overview of AT&T’s multifaceted mobile strategy.
