MapQuest Launches BlackBerry App

By: Mike Boland 11 September 2008

Following the launch of MapQuest Local on Tuesday, MapQuest announced today that it will extend its MapQuest 4 Mobile application to BlackBerry devices.

The downloadable app lets users get directions, search for businesses (name and category search), and see traffic conditions. It will also come with a GPS-enabled “find me” feature, which should enhance mapping and directions, including turn-by-turn navigation.

The app joins MapQuests suite of mobile products, including MapQuest Navigator (voice-guided navigation), its WAP site, and its tie-ins with navigation systems from Garmin (handheld) and OnStar (in dash). It will be available initially on the BlackBerry 8830 through Sprint and the 8800, 8820 and 8310 through AT&T.
