It's a good point about the future of SEO. Manta is moving to integrate with SMBs beyond basic profile content. This platform approach allows it to operate across networks and fashion a set of SMB marketing, loyalty and commerce tools that transcend online visibility/rank.

Manta have done a great job maintaining their traffic in a post-panda world. Particularly, given how much traffic the likes of Hubspot have lost.

It seems that there might well be a model based around SEO still. The question is, however, how long can you continue to build a model around SEO.

Now the fun begins!

Now that YP Holdings can't hide under the shroud of AT&T's results reporting, it will be very interesting to see exactly where they are at and where they are heading.

Brady,
How's that sales job for Dex going? That's the only person that would make an utterly rediculous comment like that: "...best cost per customer available in the market today." Wow. That's laughable.

Great mention in the NYTimes Youre the Boss blog -- that's how I found you! --Beth at the Woods Hole Inn

I love the quote: “It’s no longer e-commerce,” he said. “It’s just commerce.”

This is going to be the message of the next 5 years.

The next 5 years will no doubt be a period of convergence. Offline and Online will converge with every retailer expected to be accessible not only at their bricks and mortar shops, but also online and via mobile devices. Similarly, we will see (we are already seeing) the convergence of the different aspects of business (advertising, customer management, payment processing, etc).

This move by Paypal is a great example of the convergence that is happening right now.

Yes. Definitely includes the locally targeted portion of the national spend. National advertisers and agencies are where most mobile spending is happening today. See reasons #1 and #2 above.

Also, keep in mind this post is almost a year old. Newer data can be found here - http://blog.kelseygroup.com/index.php/2012/04/20/when-will-mobile-local-searches-eclipse-desktop/

thanks for the comment.
